Legend
H = Left hand landing fully on center of drum skin (as in a muted
bass stroke).

(M) = Muted stick stroke by leaving the left hand on the drum or hand and stick landing together in a flam fashion (hand first).
S = Slap stroke with Left hand (open)
O = Stick stroke with Right hand on center of skin (or rim shot for
variation)

x = Silence (felt eighth note space)

l = Bar markings

 

Let's start with some patterns for the PIANO Drum. To understand them and "feel" them better it would be ideal to have someone playing 3-2 clave.

The Piano drum has a lot of freedom and within this patterns a lot of improvisation is allowable, depending on the style. The Pianos are always in dialogue with the Repiques.
